science

One thing I learned in the owl pellet is that more than two small animals like rodents can be in the pellet. I also learned that there must be plenty of moles and rodents in the area were the pellet was found. I can tell because what i said before, there are at least more than two rodents and or moles. I learend that owls eat the prey hole but then a week or two after, the owl throw up the left over fur and bones and that is how a pellet is made. I also learned that the pellet is not manure but it is the left overs that owl cannot digest.

current event 2

"Are Wolves the Ponghorn's Bestfriend?"

The Western States are debating whether the gray wolf should be removed from protection under Endangered Species Act. People had says that fewer wolves mean more coyotes and more coyotes means fewer pronghorn fawns. But, in their study, healthy wolfs keps the coyotes in number. Over a three-year period, researchers had more that 100 fawns without the wolfs in the Grand Teton National Park. In their resault, only 10 percent of fawns survieved in area with wolfs and had more coyotes. In the area without wolfs, more fawns survived (34 percent). The wolfs kill or cause the coyotes to shift into another area to reduce the number of coyotes.

I feel like wolves shouldn't be isolated from all the other animals because they are also a part of nature. How they live with other animals should be kept as it is. A species of animals may be alrger than another species. That's just how it is going to be. But I sometimes feel animals shouldn't be over powered by other animals. It's better if there are equal amounts of each species everywhere, but I know that that will not happen because animals have to survive. Aniamls have their own special way of living and humans shouldn't interfere with the way nature works.

Current Event 1

The article I just read is called "Drunk Fruit Flies Provide Alcoholism Cure". The researchers from North Carolina and Boston universities identified networks of genes, also found in human that play a role in alcohol drinking behavior. To find this discovery, the researchers timed the fruit flies on how long it took them to lose their postural control after the exposure to alcohol. This changes the expression of all fruit flies at the same time and the genes were recorded. By doing this, they knew the specific genes that adapt relating to alcohol exposure. This helps them contribute to alcohol drinking habits in human.
This article is really interesting. I learned that this can help the balance between nature and nurture. Also I learned that this helps the scientist know why we behave the way we do, whats better and worse, and what makes us mad. This is the key role in alcohol drinking behavior. I learned that discovery have negative side affects like liver damage.

Literature 2

Summer Reading Questions
The connections i was able to make while reading the book was that every one has a gift. A gift is an ability that is given to you. In the book, Nancy's special gift was ESP, which is the ability to sense the thoughts of others. I consider drawing as my special gift. Brendon's gift was music and in the end, he becames a pilot, this is a connection because even though my mom is good at drawing, she only became an artist for a short period of time.

Literature

Bullying
Everyone feels that bullying is wrong, but we can't stop it in our society or our own school community. This is because bullies want to be known as a stronger person and they're not afraid to fight others and hurt other people. This relates to Jack in the Lord of the Flies because Jack feels like he is the leader and he is not afraid to fight and he pretty much has the characteristics of a bully. One of the people that he bullied was Piggy. Jack let out the fire when the ship was crossing the island and got upset and he punched Piggy in the stomach. Another example of bullying is when Ralph made fun of Piggy's name and told everyone about it which hurt Piggy's feelings.

welcome science

My favorite subject is science because you get to to fun experiments and learn about rocks, the solar system, our environment and lots more. The best book I ever read was the book called "Twilight". My favorite food to buy ion the cafeteria is tacos. On the weekend, when all my chores are done, I like to watch television, play the computer, or sleep. If I won a free airline ticket to any place I wanted, I would go to Hawaii because i never went to Hawaii before and because I always wanted to go to Hawaii. My favorite color is purple. If I had a pet, it would be a cat and i would name it Waco. This year, if I work hard enough, I hope i could have a great job like being a lawyer.
